(HMG) – In their first public appearance since Michael Jackson’s memorial service seven months ago, 12-year-ancient Prince Jackson and 11-year-ancient Paris Jackson took to the stage at the Grammy Awards last night to pay tribute to their dad and accept a lifetime achievement award on his behalf. Prince choked up during his speech a bit but showed admirable poise while he spoke:
“We are proud to be here to accept this award on behalf of our father, Michael Jackson. First of all, we’d like to thank God for watching over us for the past seven months. And our grandmother and grandfather for their like and support. We would also like to thank the fans. Our father loved you so much because you were always there for him. Our father was always concerned about the planet and humanity. Through all his hard work and dedication, he’s helped with many charities and donated to all of them. Through all his songs his message was simple: like. We will continue to spread his message and help spread the word. Thank you. We like you, Daddy.”
The show at the Staples Theatre in Los Angeles included a special 3-D tribute to Jackson featuring a video clip he made of Earth Song as Usher, Carrie Underwood, Celine Dion, Jennifer Hudson and Smokey Robinson sang along. While they performed, a 3D video was played in the background with footages from Michael’s concert movie This is it. The song was brought alive with clips of children freely playing in the fields. Michael’s 11 year ancient daughter Paris signed off by saying:
“Daddy was supposed to be here and Daddy was going to perform this year because he couldn’t perform last year, thank you. We like you Daddy.”
