Keri Russell signs to co-star in comedy with Will Arnett

keri russellHMG – In news that will see legions of male teenage TV fans doing cartwheels in their basements, the divine Keri Russell has just joined a new show.

‘Wilde Kingdom,’ a new Fox comedy pilot developed by the tangled minds behind ‘Arrested Development’ and starring Will Arnett is now in preparation, and the delightful Ms. Russell has just signed on as the like interest.

The show – if it makes it that far – will concern a rich, self-centered millionaire, Steve Wilde (Will), who becomes hopelessly smitten by a kind humanitarian who inadvertently crosses his path.

This will be Keri’s first time back on the small screen since her four-year run as ‘Felicity’ closed in 2002. The suits at the networks have been trying to lure her back ever since but Keri has focused on her movie career until now.

But, a source close to the 33-year ancient actress tells EW her reluctance to return was overcome by the script;

“If the right project came along she would consider it,” says the pal. “It all comes down to the material.”

Written by the people who brought us ‘Arrested’ and having already persuaded Mr. Arnett to sign on, that’s gotta be some 5-star material, don’t you reckon?…

Jessica Simpson Arrives In New York

Arriving on a transcontinental flight from Los Angeles, Jessica Simpson was spotted at JFK International Airport in New York City last night (March 9).

The “Come on Over” songstress looked cheery as she made her way through the terminal, sporting a grey sweatshirt, distressed jeans, and cowboy boots.

And while she’s come to terms with her fluctuating weight, Jessica told press she had a hard time performing on stage after the media criticized her appearance at the 2009 Chili Cook-Off gig.

“I was embarrassed. I didn’t want to show my face. I was touring with the Rascal Flatts at the time and had to get on stage every day and kind of just face it and hope to God I wasn’t wearing an unflattering outfit…Obviously, I didn’t look like Daisy Duke.”

Marie Osmond Dedicates Return Vegas Show to Late Son

Following the tragic death of her son, Marie Osmond returned to the Las Vegas stage, alongside brother Donny, last night.

The siblings performed for a sold-out crowd, as Marie dedicated the concert to her late child, saying:

“The way Osmonds survive is we keep singing. That’s what we want to do tonight. I know my son would want that and this show is for him.”

The crowd stood and cheered Marie throughout the 90-minute event, growing especially supportive when Donny said: “I reckon we need to give a huge round of applause for my sister for even coming on stage.”

This performance came just days after Rosebanne Barr really called Marie out for playing a role in Michael’s suicide. The washed-up comedian said Osmond should have chosen her son over her supposedly gay-bashing religion.

Despite this controversy and despite their grief, the Osmonds had fun on stage.

Marie joked about about her brother’s dancing skills, to which Donny answered that he won Dancing With the Stars. But he didn’t do that in heels, Marie pointed out, as she exceled at on the ABC show.

As one could only expect, it was an emotional night. Marie wiped away tears when finishing the evening’s final number, “It Takes Two.”

Kiefer Sutherland’s ‘24′ about to run out of time?

Kiefer SutherlandHMG – Since making its debut in November of 2001, the Kiefer Sutherland real-time action drama, 24 has been an international hit and a solid bet in the ratings. But now it seems Fox is ready to wind down the clock.

In its innovative nine-year run the series was a constant success with both public and critics, but the ratings are sliding and costs are going up, so the suits at Fox are expected to make this season 24’s last.

The final, fateful choice will probably be made by the end of this week.

Insiders say the network is considering leasing the series to other networks, but given the high cost of production the reaction to that plot from their rivals would be luke-warm at best.

But 24’s fans need not despair – Jack Bauer may disappear from your TV screen, but it’s highly likely he’ll be back on the huge one;  Keifer and the ‘24′ team have been making plans for a movie for years, but while the show was in production those plans were a dream. If the ax does fall they can make the dream real.

Fox already has a draft script that takes Bauer to Europe, and the suits at the network apparently like the thought..

And its not the show’s long run has not been unrewarded – 24 has won 7 Emmy’s, two Golden Globes, a Producer’s Guild Award, four SAG statuettes and even the 2004 ‘Royal Television Society Award’ from the very picky Brits.

As we said, this may still come to nothing. But Variety says costs are rising and the audience isn’t, so the chances of stopping this clock are depressingly high.

We’ll keep you informed if or when the choice appears…
