Or even better the Biblical horror tales of Sodom and Gomorra where ethical standards and decency had really vanished leaving only sexual perversion and deviance. Forcing God to ruin the cities and their inhabitants with brimstone and fire out of heaven. Only righteous Lot, a nephew of Abraham, escaped as he was lead out of the city by angels.
